Bet you and Get you
Patrick: Hey there, are you alright? You look like you have a headache.
Jeness: I’m alright, but can I get you to help me? I’ve spent my whole lunch break searching for a birthday gift for my friend Chance. Do you have time to chat?
Patrick: Oh, I bet you I can help. What is Chance into? Chairs? Chopsticks? Sketching?
Jeness: Chance is a teacher, so I bet you he already has all those things. He really like rich chocolate. I bet you that’s expensive though, which do you think is the best value?
Patrick: There’s a chocolate shop near the church at the corner of Kitchener Street and Commercial Drive. I bet you they can tell you which is the best chocolate for Chance.
Jeness: That’s great! There’s just one hitch… my lunch break is nearly over so I have to watch the clock. Could I get you to go for me? I’ll spot you $30 and you can grab me the best looking one.
Patrick: Well… sure. I’ll go all the way to East Van just to get you some nice chunky dark chocolate for Chance. You’re lucky I’m such a good friend.
Jeness: You’re a champ! A peach! A real pinch hitter! Let me know how I can make it up to you, I’ll get you whatever you want.
Patrick: Well, since I’m going so far out of my way to help you, I bet you could buy me lunch tomorrow?
Jeness: Sounds good. Can I get you a sandwich?
Patrick: That’s such a boring lunch! Let’s go get nachos.
